Thank you members, volunteers and staff!
Our recent river cleanup effort was a great success thanks to all the River Reps, volunteers, Board of Directors and Sac River Trust staff who made it a priority on a brisk Saturday morning to clean over 300 pounds of trash off the roadways, river parks and parking areas near our river along River Road and West Sacramento Avenues in Chico. Hot coffee and pastries were provided by the Sac River Trust for all of the volunteers that gathered at Indian Fishery around 8:45am on the morning of February 1st, 2014.
We picked up many interesting items:
- 1. Aluminum Cans
- 2. 3-Tires
- 3. Glass bottles
- 4. Inflatable Inner Tubes
- 5. A Pool Filter
- 6. Tooth Brush
- 7. And many other trashed items…
The Sacramento River Preservation Trust recently adopted two stretches of road near the Sacramento River here in Chico and Butte County, as part of the Butte County Adopt-A-Highway Program run by Scot Johnson. Scot is a great steward of our land and helps run all of the cleanup efforts around Butte County. He was able to supply us with all of our hard hats, trash pickers, vests and bags. He even picks up the bags and large trash items when we are done! Thank you Scot and Butte County Public Works Department for providing this great service to our county and our community.
NEXT RIVER CLEANUP: March 1st from 9am-11am. See you there!
