This will be a driving field trip to one of the premier wildflower viewing sites in northern California.
We will drive south on I-5 to Maxwell then west to the proposed Sites Reservoir, and from there head south to Bear Valley Road all the way to Highway 20. We will make numerous roadside stops along the way, but won’t be hiking, so this is the perfect field trip for those not able to walk long distances.
Bring your plant books, cameras, and binoculars. With all the rain, this should be a spectacular wildflower display. There are no services on this road so bring a lunch, water, and gas money for ride shares.
We strongly encourage carpooling to reduce our CO2 emissions as this is a 200-mile round trip, all day outing.
Meet at the Holiday Market parking lot on Placer Street near CVS at 8 am.
