The first of the Spring events at Horsetown- Clear Creek Preserve are as follows. Unless otherwise stated, all events start at the HCCP parking area on Clear Creek Road. All events are Free.
April 2 (Sun.) 1 p.m. – “CLEAR CREEK WILD FLOWERS AND WILD PLANTS” Come walk with David Ledger from the Native Plant Society. Enjoy the beauty of blooming wild flowers, the stimulation of a walk in the country, and learn about plants and nature. Sunday afternoons don’t get any better than this. David is very knowledgeable about plants in our area.
April 8 (Sat.) 10 a.m. – “CLOVERDALE WATERFALLS” Enjoy a pleasant spring morning walking on the Cloverdale property with Don Neptune, HCCP Board member. Come explore the waterfalls and enjoy wonderful views of the Clear Creek canyon. Bring some friends, walking shoes, and water – a moderate walk of 2 to 3 hours!
April 23 (Sun.) 8:30 a.m. – “EARLY BIRD WATCHERS” Enjoy early morning bird watching with local expert Barbara Peck. Barbara has a Masters in Wildlife Biology and Ecology. She will point out birds and tell us more about them as we stroll over portions of the Preserve. Bring binoculars if you have them.
April 30 (Sun.) 9:00 a.m. – “PLANT AND COMMUNITY ECOLOGY WALK”Explore the plant community around us: why plants grow where they do, what functions they perform and how they relate to the community and ecosystem. Learn to identify some key plants (both native and invasive). All ages are encouraged to explore the ecology of Clear Creek with BLM’s Laura Brodhead. Wear walking shoes.
